Friends of the Earth have published the first global meat atlas. This unique publication outlines how industrial meat production and consumption uses up scarce land and water resources and passes on hidden costs to the consumer. It makes the case that corporate control of food needs to be challenged to reduce the impact of meat production on society and the environment. It illustrates how livestock can lessen poverty and enhance equality, and how meat production could respect the environment and human health and provide appropriate conditions for animals.
